This year, we have observed emerging market opportunities as well as many challenges. As the global energy transition is accompanied by steadily growing market demands, Dyness has been bold enough to jump on the bandwagon and contribute to the development of clean energy around the world, and has achieved remarkable success in 2024.
Evolving Global Energy Storage Market Potential
At COP28, the participants reached the Global Renewables and Energy Efficiency Pledge. This commitment aims to limit the rise in global temperatures to 1.5°C. To achieve this, it is imperative that the world increases its renewable energy capacity by a factor of three by 2030, bringing the total to at least 11,000 GW. Furthermore, the global average annual rate of energy efficiency improvements must be doubled from approximately 2% to over 4% annually until 2030. Notably, COP29 Presidency officially launched COP29 Energy Initiatives, calling for endorsements for the COP29 Global Energy Storage and Grids Pledge. This initiative aims to mobilize commitments from various stakeholders to collectively achieve the deployment of 1,500 GW of energy storage capacity worldwide by the year 2030. This target is more than six times the capacity of 2022. Fatih Birol, the Executive Director of International Energy Agency (IEA) further emphasized that energy storage and resilient grids should be given key priorities to build more secure, affordable, and sustainable energy systems.
The role of energy storage in the global energy transition is self-evident. This year, from grid collapse instances in Nigeria to serious blackouts that affect the daily lives of residents in Brazil caused by storms, what can be seen is that factors such as aging grids and extreme weather contribute to the instability of electricity in some regions, prompting demands for reliable power supply solutions. Concurrently, the C&I segment is also emerging as a highly attractive market worldwide this year. Rising electricity costs and interrupted grid power push businesses to seek alternative electricity sources to stabilize operations and cut expenses. It is predicted that the C&I market will continue to grow in the coming years, particularly in countries such as China, the UK, Italy, and so on.
However, it should be noted that there are also some barriers on the path. Uncertain regional policies, fluctuating market conditions, and diverse user needs all present challenges to players in this market.
